2月12日 Been a long time...I know its been a while since I posted, but I have been pretty busy and I was out of town last week. I was in New Orleans for a conference. I had a great time, and got things that dont usually happen to me. When I showed up at the Marriott, they were overbooked and so they upgraded me to the Ritz-Carlton a couple of blocks away. Yeah, it was awesome. It was a very luxurious hotel. Having champagne offered to you while waiting in registration. Having to use your key to go hang out in the Club Lounge where they have complimentary food, wine, and liquor. Also having a huge roman tub in the marble clad bathroom. All the complimentary toiletries were Bulgari. They had really high thread count sheets and the pillows and comforters were goose down and they had the most comfortable terrycloth robes. The whole room and bathroom were hooked up to the DVD player so you could listed to music all over the place. The very unfortumate part, is that why would you want to spend that much time at your hotel when you're in New orleans? And I didn't spend much time there :)
The hotel was in the French Quarter about two blocks away from Bourbon St. After all day sitting in session at the conference, we would spend alot of time on Bourbon. It was fun to walk up and down there going into different bars, getting drinks, and moving on to the next one. One thing I was surprised to find out, is that there were many strip clubs on Bourbon. I found it surprising because there are women flashing all over the place, why would you go and pay to see the same thing? One place I spent a lot of time at was the Bourbon Cowboy. They had a mechanical bull and lots of people wanting to try it out. Some girls would get on it topless, sometimes two at the same time. On the one occasion two girsl rode it topless together, and after they were done with that wrestled each other's pants off until they were just wearing their thongs. Needless to say, it attracted a lot of attention from the guys.
On a different night, we went to Pat O'brien's for some hurricanes, and let me tell you, that is some strong stuff. I ended up drinking two hurricanes and some other drinks and lets just say, I didn't have the greatest night ever. Another place with some really strong drinks was the Tropical Isle with their Hand grenades. Now that is one dangerous drink. It tastes like pineapple juice but has all kinds of alcohol in it. I was able to drink only one though.
Went to a couple of good places to eat too. The Acme Oyster Co. was really good. The chargrilled oysters were incredible. We also went to Cafe Beignet for some nice fresh beignets, not the healthiest food, but tasty.
After a week in New Orleans I was quite tired and it was nice to be back home.
