8月14日 Checking inWell, I thought I would give a post birthday post. I know it has been forever since I put anything up. I have just been working and playing golf since last time I wrote. Nothing really exciting has happened, gone drinking a few times but thats about it. Things at home are going ok. My brother is doing fine. The kitties are doing great. They enjoy destroying my carpet and play fighting each other. I did go to Albuquerque for my b-day to visit a friend. We golfed a lot this last weekend and had a poker tournament at his house. I didn't win but it was fun. So yeah, I'm 31 and nothing really exciting is happening. 3月29日 Where does the time go?Its hard to believe I have been so busy at work lately it doesn't even give me time to stop by spaces anymore. Things have been pretty hectic but have been going well. This past weekend, a friend of mine came to town and we played some golf on saturday. I got really, really sunburnt. I kinda forgot that the sun is strong in these parts. My arms and legs are still slightly red. Don't ask about how well I did. I hadn't played in at least 2 years. I did get suckered into playing on the work golf league so I'll be playing once a week. Should be very interesting. This past weekend we did make it to the zoo on sunday, and it was a good time. Its been a while since I had gone to the Tucson zoo, its small but very well done with lots of stuff to see. The kitties are doing great and they're lots of fun to watch. In other news, I think my brother will be moving in with me so that should make it interesting. Hope everyone is doing great. 3月13日 Kitty updatesOnce again, a weekend went by with not much action. These days most of my free time is spent with the kitties. They are pretty funny when they wrestle around with each other. They try to find ways to ambush the other cat.
I find it pretty funny that they follow me around the house. If I go to the kitchen they have to g owith me. As well as following me up and down the stairs. It's as if I have ducklings :)
The part that still needs work is the nightime attacks of my feet. I don't think my feet have ever been so scratched as they are now. They go on full on attacks of my feet with intent to eat whatever is under the blanket, namely my feet. The raids have diminished, but they make up for it when they get me, as the length of the gashes has increased.
Last sunday when I was laying on the couch and one of them came up to sleep with me and I just lay there for an hour rubbing him, I realized i really missed lazing around the house with my cat. 3月5日 Recent happeningsThings have been pretty busy at work lately so most of my work day has been taken up by actual work. Aside from that, the biggest news is that I got a couple of kitties. They're about 6 months old and one is black and the other one is white with gray tabby. They're very cute and a lot of fun. I'll put up some pics when I take some good photos of them. Another event in the past couple of weeks, was that someone backed into me in the paking lot of the grocery store. It's not bad but its still a pain in the ass to get it all fixed up. 2月14日 Happy Flower, Candy, and Card DayOn this the most commercial of holidays, I hope everyone gets something sweet :)
I never really liked the whole Valentine's day thing. You have to buy candy or chocolate, a gift, a card, and go out to dinner or you don't love/care for the person youre with. The worst part of it is that everyone buys into it. It really gets crazy around this time, to the point where roses can cost hundreds of dollars and chocolatiers sell out, and all of the restaurants are booked. If you don't buy a gift, or even the "right" gift you will hear about it for a long time to come. It doesn't matter if you do things like buying flowers, or going for a nice dinner, or even buying a gift just because on random days. If you don't do something on the designated buying a "romantic" gift day, you are a horrible person. You can probably tell I have had bad experiences with this day, but not all of the above refer to me. Some of it has happened to guys I know. It probably happens to me because I find the day completely manufactured and superficial. It completely misses the point of love and it becomes merely a pandering to the love of things. So the moral of the story is, if you don't spend money on me you don't love me. I would like to leave you with one of my favorite lines from the greatest musicians ever, The Beatles.
"Can't buy me love!" 1月22日 Let it Snow...Well, we got a little surprise yesterday here in Tucson. It snowed pretty heavily and just covered the city and there is still snow on the ground. I would never think that I would be playing in the snow out front of my house and even less that we would have a snowball fight with the neighbor's kids. Aside from that, the weekend was pretty uneventful. I did go out friday night and saturday night, so that was a big change from before. On friday I went out with a friend to just hangout and get out of the house. We went to have some dinner, had a few drinks, played pool, and a bar video game that ended up being extremely addictive. Saturday night I went to dinner with some friends and afterwards to a bar. Towards the end of the night, a girl approached me and she proceeded to tell me that she was from Puerto Rico and that she was an exchange student. I then proceeded to speak to her in spanish, and then she replied that she didn't understand what I was saying. I would like to know why anyone would make up something that they would not be able to back up. I mean if youre gonna make up a story, make one you can convincingly manage. 1月15日 Where does the time go?Yeah I know, I've been gone for a while. Nothing really exciting has been happening in my life lately. Work has actually been pretty busy which is pretty good cause the more we sell, the more money I make. In terms of actually doing something, I have not been going out. I have been trying to stay at home so I don't go out to eat or go drinking. I have alse been hitting the gym pretty hard and seeing some pretty good results. I did go out to the saguaro national park to test out my new camera and lens. It was nice to get out in the wild again and looking for some nice shots. It was pretty cold though. I'll try and do better in the future but unless I actually start doing stuff it'll probably be boring :) 12月18日 Vacation!Its nice to be on vacation. I can wake up whenever I like, hang around the house and do all of those things I have been meaning to do for the longest time. Although, there are all these loose ends at work that need tying up, like when you receive a call early on monday morning with the information you had requested last week. Thats a good way to start your vacation week. Hope everyone has a great week and a Merry Christmas. 12月11日 Its been a while.Yeah, I've been away for a while. I have been pretty busy with work and very tired. Not much has happened since. Thanks giving was fine, didn't really do much. I usually make dinner but this time i decided that I'd rather just veg instad of spending hours making turkey and stuff. Aside from that the only thing worth mentioning was my trip to DC last week for a class. I didn't have time to go around the city, but I had been there plenty of times before. I did drink and eat way too mcuh while I was there. The place where the class was being held had great food and they had lots of it. They also made it very readily available throughout the day. Also at night we would all gather and drink shortly after dinner and keep going until late at night. I think I put on 5 lbs or so last week. One of the bright spots was wednesday night, which happened to be lobster night and i ended up eating 2 of them and they also had a grand manier chocolate cake that was just unbelieveable. Aside from that my flight back was not to enjoyable, after several delays, I ended up arriving really late and completely exhausted. I think I slept for 12 hours afterwards.
So I'm back at work and looking forward to vacation next week.
11月13日 Back HomeI arrived back in Tucson on friday. I spent the weekend trying to sleep away the jetlag and get back on mountain time. My time in Atlanta went pretty well. The class I was in last week was a lot of work. It was a good class and I did learn alot. It did require long hours at night so I didnt get to do much exploring of the city. I liked Atlanta, but Im glad to be back. I did relapse into an old addiction this weekend. I hadn't bought a new watch in a couple of years, but I couldn't a big sale last night. I was able to control myself and only buy one :)
I am working from home today, and it so nice to be laying on my couch while working. I'll try and post some of the halloween pics tonight. I also booked my trip for my next class in D.C. during the first week of december. I hope its not too cold. 11月6日 Still in the ATLWell, I'm still in Atlanta and I'm taking another class. I had a good weekend. I met with my cousin and he took me around the city and we went to some really good restaurants. Downtown has a lot of really amazing buildings and the fall colors on the trees are incredible. It was also nice to spend time with family and get back into some latin culture. I've missed it a lot and hadn't realized until now. I might have to take some trips back to Honduras soon. 10月30日 On the other side of the countryI made it to Atlanta in one piece, so thats good. I hope its not too hard getting used to the time here. The trip went ok, except I didn't get to eat till I got here. The weekend went well. I did get to finish my costume in time, but I stayed up really late the night before to do it. I was draggin all day long. ok, I'll tell you what it is, I was a butterfly :) I'll put up some of the pics when I get home next week. 10月23日 Sooo TiredIt is monday again, and at least its a happy monday. I decided to take the rest of the week off so I could sleep and recharge my batteries. This weekend was ok. I did go out for a friend's b-day celebration and what I thought would be a couple of hours hanging out and having a couple of drinks turned out to be a very drunken night. I went to a little hotspot here in town and we had a table and had a few drinks. Some people left at the time I originally planned on leaving, but the conversation was pretty good and of course one drink turned into four, and leaving by 11 turned into 12:30 to head to another place cause this one closed at 1. Upon arrival at the new place we had a round of Irish carbombs. Home arrival time, 2:30 AM. Alcohol consumed, 6 Stoli & Tonics, and 1 Irish Carbomb. Needless to say, I was pretty wasted. Woke up at 10 AM, still drunk. The rest of sunday was pretty rough, but A nice meal and lots of tea made it much better.
I'm leaving for Atlanta on monday, and I will be there for 2 weeks straight. I've never been there but I hear good things about the place, and my cousin lives there. It should be a good time. The 3 hour time difference will be tough to be at work/class at 8 AM, which would be 5 AM my time. That's why I need to rest before I head over.
I will spend the rest of the week working on my costume. I had an idea but had to scrap it because it wasnt coming together correctly. Sometimes geometry is a beyotch. I think I'll have to keep K-fed as a back-up idea in case I cant get this new concept to work. 10月16日 In class again.At least I did accomplish one thing this weekend. I got some sleep. Aside from that, nothing noteworthy happened. I will be in class for the rest of the week so I'll try to enjoy it as much as possible. I have not come up with any ideas for my halloween costume, but Lola has a really good suggestion. I would have to practice my smug look before I could pull off a K-fed though. 10月9日 In the officeI really need to sleep more during the weekend. I'm in my office today so thats good, but my phone isn't back on yet. I dont have any Conf. calls today so thats ok. It gives me a chance to get out of the house and see some people. I didn't do much exciting stuff during the weekend, but I did go to a hookah lounge and had some orange strawberry tobacco, and it was very nice. It inspired me to fire up the hoohak my mom had sent me from Saudi Arabia a couple of years back. It had just been sitting in a corner gathering dust. I had some double apple tobacco, which was really nice, and after a little bit of a learning curve got a nice smoke out of it.
I still need to figure out what I will be doing for a halloween costume this year. Time is running short and I have no idea what to do. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. 10月6日 Not as much funContrary to popular belief, working from home is not that much fun. Especially when you're on conference calls 5 or 6 hours a day. At least I get a break for a few days. Hope everyone has a great weekend. 10月4日 Sitting at homeI find myself working from home again. Yesterday, I get to work and check my e-mail to find a note saying my phone extension has been deleted. You can imagine wasn't too happy because I had to find a phone so I could get on my 2 conference calls later in the day. Since the phone I found wasnt mine, I didn't have a speaker phone and I was on calls for a total of 3 hours. Of course, they can't get my phone reinstated for about a week, so I think I'll be working from home until they fix all of that. 10月2日 Pros and ConsIt's monday again, and not a particularly exciting one. Everything is ok, I didn't do much this weekend, but I did catch up on some sleep. Today, all of the people I used to work with have the day off. Since I am no longer in the same group, I get to work today. Isn't that great? 9月26日 In ClassLast week I started my new position, and its going well. I really haven't started doing what I will be doing, but I have been on some calls, answering questions from the sales team on one of our new technologies. It seems I'll the resident expert on it. So I'm off to a good start.
I didn't really do much this weekend, hung out a bit and played some video games. I didn't get to sleep till about 4:30 am on saturday night. I think I'm still sleep deprived from that.
All this week I'm going to be in class, which is not too bad, but a little boring. I already know most of the stuff in the class but its the overall picture that the class is about. I did get out early today so that good, but I have to be on a conference call at 8 am tomorrow. I better get to sleep so I can wake up early enough for that :) 9月18日 A fresh start?I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words about Chico and I appreciate your concern.
I am planning on getting a couple of kittens, but probably not until next year when I'm settled into my new job and think I can devote enough time to them.
Today is the first day of my "new" job. It is completely different from anything I have ever done before at work. The advantage of working for a very large corporation, is that you can move around and do jobs from just about any field. So for the next few weeks, my biggest responsibility will be lots of reading and learning new software and a few classes here and there. The biggest advantage of this job is that I can do it from anywhere with an internet connection and a phone. Another nice advantage is the potential to make more money than I have before, which would be very nice in terms of paying off my mortgage :)
I haven't really been doing much lately, just sitting at home and missing my cat. The Vet sent me a nice card with a little of Chico's fur and his paw print. I received a message saying they had gotten his ashes back. I need to go pick them up that sometime this week. I remember seeing an ad in a magazine, where they take your pet's ashes and mix them with some clay and make a ceramic tile and paint it with a picture of your pet. I'll look into it, I'd rather have that than to keep ashes in an urn.
On an introspective note, I find it really strange that a lot of small and large changes managed to coincide with me turning thirty. I guess it does symbolize a start to the next phase of my life. Hope it brings along with it many good things. |
